Are you a consultant to social sector organizations? Is consulting your primary form of employment? Do the Values and Agreements of the Hawaiʻi Community Benefit Consultants resonate with you? Then you may be a good fit with our hui…
There are numerous benefits to being part of Hawai‘i Community Benefit Consultants, including:
Listing in HCBC Directory
The HCBC directory is a centralized, regularly updated online source for locating Hawai‘i’s nonprofit and social sector consultants. Visitors can search by area of expertise and field of interest, quickly locating potential consultants to meet their specific needs. Organizations in need of consulting services can find you through our website, regardless of whether you have an existing online presence.
Cross-referral
In HCBC, each of us recognizes that we will not always be the right person for the job. Sometimes an organization requires experience that we don’t have, or an agency is seeking a particular set of skills or area of specialization. By tapping into our network of consulting colleagues, we are able to cross-refer to best meet our clients’ needs. We realize that expertise in Hawai‘i’s social sector is highly sought, and that by bringing a spirit of generosity to our work through cross-referral when appropriate, we can support one another while best serving our clients.
Third-party referral
Through partnerships with organizations such as Hawai‘i Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations, Hawai‘i Community Foundation, and Aloha United Way, HCBC is able to provide a path for third-party referrals to find consultants. Partner or member agencies of these organizations receive information on our growing directory of consultants, as well as our respective areas of specialization.
Shared expertise
HCBC consultants support each other by sharing their expertise on a wide range of topics. Sometimes all you need is an expert to point you and your client in the right direction, and having a network of consultants with a depth of experience and knowledge to support your work is a powerful asset.
Monthly lunches
We meet in Honolulu for regular lunches during the third week of each month (alternating between Wed/Fri), except during November and December. This is an opportunity to meet fellow consultants in person, enjoy a tasty lunch in the company of like-minded people, and just talk story. (NOTE: During COVID, these gatherings have been hosted virtually.)
Closed Facebook Group
Our Facebook Group is a closed social media group that allows us to pose questions, solicit feedback, and connect with colleagues in a consultants-only space. Looking for business tools specific for consultants? Not sure how best to cite an article in a grant proposal? Looking for a virtual office space? This is a great place to pose those kinds of questions between our monthly lunches.
