Dr. Borofsky is passionate about the strengths of island communities. She started Sea of Islands Consulting to bring her networks, research expertise, writing skills, and commitment to service together. When not at the computer, she enjoys being in the water surfing, swimming, and talking story. She lives in Hawaiʻi and travels throughout the Pacific as a consultant.
Amelia’s expertise is in cultural and strength-based evaluation of programs. She also is skilled at needs assessments, program development, conflict resolution, and grant writing. She has successfully secured ANA and other federal grants for Native Hawaiian non-profits. She has conducted successful program evaluations for University of Hawaii Maui, Kamehameha Schools, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Ministry of Health Cook Islands, Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development and other local and international organizations. She works closely and collaboratively with clients using a strengths and culturally based approach to research and evaluation.
Trained as a clinical psychologist, she received an American Psychological Association Minority Fellowship for her research and clinical service with diverse populations. She has written for Cook Islands News, Atlantic Monthly, and other journals and mainstream publications. She enjoys teaching as an adjunct professor and mentoring. Her strongest skills are writing, research, and collaborative community work. She will work closely with you to successfully evaluate your program. Inquiries welcome.
