Born in Chicopee Massachusetts, I traveled extensively before I landed in California. I have a B.A. degree from Sonoma State University’s School of Expressive Arts, a radical upper division interdisciplinary experimental program that existed for several years in the 70’s. Students, in consultation with faculty advisors and colleagues, designed their own course of study and were free to choose both the subjects and media for their personal expression. This transformative educational experience set the path for an interesting career as a mixed media artist and photographer; the Curator and Administrative Director at Highways Performance Space and Gallery for 10 years; more than 20 years working in the nonprofit sector holding various positions; and as a consulting nonprofit development strategist. I received a Masters of Public Administration degree from Cal State Northridge in 2008.
Since 2005, I have provided guidance to environment, human services, education, and arts and culture nonprofits in Hawaii and Los Angeles. Since 2016, I have lived in Pahoa, Hawaii on the Big Island, where I am active within the Pahoa area community, and aware of the issues that impact us all. Memberships include: Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations, Hawaii Farmers Union United, East Hawaii Cultural Center, and the Volcano Art Center. Arts Asylum is my studio in Pahoa that is focused on experimental mixed media art using traditional natural materials to inspire and create contemporary art.
I can provide the assistance that you need to sustain and grow your small to mid-sized nonprofit. We can work together to create compelling grant proposals – with eye-catching attachments, and clearly stated budgets and outcomes – to help your organization secure the funds needed to further your mission. I can also provide staff and board training, information, tools and funding resources, along with the implementation of strategic management. Having someone with experience and knowledge to assist with administrative or program projects, outreach, or grant writing goes a long way toward fulfilling the organization’s vision and achieving immediate and long-term goals.
Fees are assessed on a sliding scale according to your budget. Call or email me to talk about your needs and the ways that we can work together to help your organization succeed.
