I have a passion for public service, which is why I believe so strongly in the ChangeWorks mission of creating impactful change within our community. I seek to leverage my problem solving, strategic thinking, and analytical skills to support underserved populations in our community. Having served in multiple sectors both private and public, I have gained the experience necessary to understand a variety of organizational needs and communicate with many distinct audiences.
My philosophy is to get to know your organization from an outside perspective to help understand what tools and information your agency needs to better succeed, and find the most effective ways to utilize and adapt existing resources and systems to maximize your organization’s outputs and positive community outcomes.
I have a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus on policy analysis, and quantitative and qualitative methods. This skillset has afforded me the opportunity to work in a variety of sectors, including data analysis for the State of Texas, financial analysis and contract planning for a private contracting firm supporting the Department of Defense, and three years helping manage a local environmental education non-profit. In the non-profit sector as the Grant Development Manager and then two years as the Associate Director for Hawai‘i Nature Center, I learned many new skills and flexed professional development muscles to become the quintessential Chief Everything Officer. (When I say ‘everything,’ I mean ‘everything,’ from million-dollar grant proposals, negotiating state contracts, and mentoring program staff, to data entry and managing an aging septic system, plus everything in between!)
I am now fortunate to be working with two dear friends and colleagues at ChangeWorks – Jeeyun Lee and Heather Pierucki. Together with the other mana wahine of ChangeWorks, we are working to achieve our mission of creating impactful change within our community.
Outside of work, I volunteer with a local Girl Scout troop in Mānoa and with Polynesian Voyaging Society, and am even a crew member in-training for future Mālama Honua voyages. I also enjoy reading, hiking, and my weekly Dungeons & Dragons game with friends.
